Hi there. @Pebbles135. I'll share some steps to help you book the money in and out transactions.

If you haven't done it yet, you have to create a check transaction for the amount you issued to the employees. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the + New menu and select Check.
  2. Next, in the Payee dropdown, select who you want to address the check.
  3. Then, select the account you want the money to come from in the Bank Account dropdown.
  4. Fill out the rest of the fields accordingly.
  5. When done, select Save and Close.

After that, refer to these steps in creating a refund:

  1. Navigate to the + New menu and select Bank Deposit.
  2. Next, go to the Add funds to this deposit and enter the amount refunded and choose the Category/Account that you selected on the initial check.
  3. If you deposited customer payments for invoices into the bank account along with the vendor refund, add them in the Select the payments included in this deposit section.\
  4. Once done, select Save and Close.

For reference, check out this article: Enter vendor credits and refunds in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, to ensure you'll able to book the transaction to the correct accounts, I recommend reaching out to your accountant for guidance. They can provide advice on how you can accurately record the entries to prevent messing up your records. If you're not affiliated with one, you can use our Find an Accountant tool to look for one near you.

I'm always here ready to lend a hand if you have other concerns managing your transaction. Please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. Stay safe.
